how to choose a signature drink

Before we dive or sip or way into signature drinks let’s chat about whether or not you want signature drinks at your wedding. If you are not sure, that is okay, but before you completely put the idea aside, see the list of pros below.

Remember, this is YOUR DAY and if you don’t want something, don’t bother. There are too many other details to remember and plan than something you simply do not want. If you want to explore some options, let's go for it and have some fun!

This is your day and with a signature drink or two or three you can make it personal. Heck, I encourage you to make it personal and have fun with it! Pick up some ingredients, many ingredients, and make it a date night in for just you two or invite some friends and family over. You don’t need to overthink it and you want it to be something you actually would drink. Don’t forget a simple drink can be presented elegantly with some color, fruit, herbs or floral.

Some ideas to consider when tasting the many libations, what is something you order when it’s date night, what would you make when enjoying an afternoon at a backyard BBQ with family and friends, and finally what would you drink when out with your girls. Planning a destination wedding? Consider taking advantage of local ingredients and the season.

Once you have decided on the drink, let’s have some more fun and name it. Maybe you want to name it after a funny moment you both had together, a hobby you each enjoy, a favorite tv series you have watched together, somewhere you have traveled or an ode to your pets. The options are endless.

Lastly, if you need a taste tester sign me up. I am usually a beer and wine kind of girl, but also do love a pretty drink.

Pros to having signature drinks:

  • In addition to selected beer and wine, signature drinks will provide the feeling of a full bar while keeping your costs down.

  • You can eliminate top shelf liquors and choose specialty drinks with a few ingredients.

  • Lines will go by quicker with less choices for guests to choose from.

  • You can limit the time the signature drinks are provided, such as only during your cocktail hour a certain amount if the beverage is premade. Thus, keeping costs down.

  • You can tell your story, celebrate a theme or season through your drinks!
