top 4 reasons why you should consider a first look

It may be one of the decisions you are absolutely set on or it is a decision you just don’t know yet or maybe it doesn’t matter to you either way. If this is the case, let me help you!

  1. It is one of the few moments that you will be alone on your wedding day. It is important for me to find time for you and your partner to have private moments together. Let’s not let the day go by without having the chance to really soak it in. Let’s find some moments to truly be together. Whether it may be sunset photos, reception room first look, traveling alone together from your ceremony location to the reception or private last dance. Having a first look provides one more opportunity to be alone together.

  2. You can get the nervous jitters out of the way. If the thought of standing in front of many people does provide some discomfort, and make you sick to your stomach, a first look is a great option. Having a first look will provide the chance to get some of the nerves out of the way. You can say your personal vows at this time, something that you may want to hold close to only you two. This is a moment for just you two (plus your photographer, wink wink) and those especially close to you that you want to be part of this moment. This is your day, choose what makes you feel your best and most importantly comfortable. Bonus, tears may flow, and you can freshen up afterwards before the ceremony.

  3. Additional photos. Who doesn’t love a photo opportunity, especially on your wedding day?!?! Having a first look does provide the opportunity for additional photos. These photos will capture a moment with just you two, maybe your most vulnerable moments during your wedding. You don’t have to worry about talking into a microphone, anyone else hearing your vows, just you two looking into each other’s eyes. Whatever the emotions may bring, tears, laughter, smiles of joy or all of the above. These are moments to capture.

  4. You get to join the party sooner! Having a first look prior to your ceremony gives you the chance to have some or all of your photos taken afterwards before your ceremony. Often family photos are taken after the ceremony while your guests enjoy cocktail hour. You have planned an amazing day to celebrate with family and friends, join them! Why not join the party sooner, eat the food, have some drinks and begin the celebration!

Not sure if you want to do a FULL first look? How about a blind first look? Feel each other, hear their voice, and calm each other before you walk down the aisle.

Ultimately, when deciding, do what feels right to both of you. What is in your heart. You cannot go wrong!
